Freedoms and individual rights are fundamental and non-negotiable. They are the basis of any just society and democratic state. We believe in every citizen's right to express their opinion freely and participate in public life without fear or discrimination.
We also believe in activating union work, and we consider hunger, poverty, illness, and ignorance to be constraints on human freedom and dignity. Providing social security, education, and healthcare for all is therefore a basic right that protects freedom and guarantees a dignified, independent life.
Justice is at the heart of the social contract. It includes the fair distribution of wealth through a strong economy and infrastructure that secure fair wages, and through a progressive, fair tax system that ensures equity for all, for women, and for all marginalized groups, including people with disabilities and the poor, so that everyone can live with dignity and without discrimination.
Solidarity is mutual responsibility and close cooperation among members of society to guarantee everyone's dignity and protect the vulnerable. It is a political and social commitment to confront shared challenges locally and internationally.
